چکیده

The lower frequency rQ 2-branch of the torsional split rotational spectrum of H OO H has been recorded for the first time near 1.05 THz with Doppler limited resolution employing a Backward Wave Oscillator as the radiation source. The position of the Q-branch lines can be predicted very closely from a set o f effective rotational constants derived individually for the two torsionally split levels. The symmetry of the molecule, and the height of the potential barrier against internal rotation, are the two main reasons for the clear separation between the rotational and torsional contributions to the spectrum of H O O H as well as the analogous molecule HSSH.

Hydrogen Peroxide Formation in a Surrogate Lung Fluid by Transition Metals and Quinones Present in Particulate Matter

Inhaled ambient particulate matter (PM) causes adverse health effects, possibly by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS), including hydrogen peroxide (HOOH), in the lung lining fluid. There are conflicting reports in the literature as to which chemical components of PM can chemically generate HOOH in lung fluid mimics. It is also unclear which redox-active species are most important for HOOH...

Yields of hydrogen peroxide from the reaction of hydroxyl radical with organic compounds in solution and ice

Hydrogen peroxide (HOOH) is a significant oxidant in atmospheric condensed phases (e.g., cloud and fog drops, aqueous particles, and snow) that also photolyzes to form hydroxyl radical ( q OH). q OH can react with organics in aqueous phases to form organic peroxyl radicals and ultimately reform HOOH, but the efficiency of this process in atmospheric aqueous phases, as well as snow and ice, is n...

A Comparison of Hydroxyl Radical and Hydrogen Peroxide Generation in Ambient Particle Extracts and Laboratory Metal Solutions.

Generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) - including superoxide ((•)O(2) (-)), hydrogen peroxide (HOOH), and hydroxyl radical ((•)OH) - has been suggested as one mechanism underlying the adverse health effects caused by ambient particulate matter (PM). In this study we compare HOOH and (•)OH production from fine and coarse PM collected at an urban (Fresno) and rural (Westside) site in the Sa...

Transmission Properties of the Periodic Structures Based on Graphene Nonlinear Optical Conductivity in a Terahertz Field

By developing the terahertz (THz) technology, in addition to generators and detectors of THz waves, the existence of some tools such as modulators and filters are needed. THz filters are important tools for various applications in the field of chemical and biological sensors. Linear and nonlinear optical properties of the graphene have attracted lots of attention. In fact graphene exhibits vari...

Porous-core honeycomb bandgap THz fiber.

In this Letter we propose a novel (to our knowledge) porous-core honeycomb bandgap design. The holes of the porous core are the same size as the holes in the surrounding cladding, thereby giving the proposed fiber important manufacturing benefits. The fiber is shown to have a 0.35-THz-wide fundamental bandgap centered at 1.05 THz. The calculated minimum loss of the fiber is 0.25 dB/cm.
